Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Corning Union High School District (CUHSD). Entering my 17th year in the District, and seventh as Superintendent, it continues to be my privilege to serve the Board of Trustees and the community of Corning. The challenges faced by parents and educators today are real, complex, and sometimes seem insurmountable.  We face unprecedented levels of learning loss and mental health issues stemming from state and federal policy around the pandemic, and students and families have more needs than ever.  With that being said, I am continually impressed by the way our schools serve our students, and am grateful to be part of the effort to give our young people every opportunity for postsecondary success.

One of the things I’m most proud of at CUHSD is the way we value ALL postsecondary education, training, and work paths our students choose to take.  While the District offers A-G coursework, AP courses, and Dual Enrolled community college classes, we also place a heavy emphasis on Career Technical Education (CTE), offering twelve different pathways, including Residential and Commercial Construction, Ag Mechanics, Entrepreneurship and Self Employment, and Patient Care (just to name a few).

In addition to the academic and job skill preparation that takes place in our District, I am extremely pleased to support the extra and co-curricular activities offered.  There continues to be something special about living and working in a place that places so much emphasis on the activities of its young people.  We know that the skills and knowledge your son or daughter leaves here with is our primary concern, but we also know that activities like sports, music, FFA, dance, clubs, etc. provide a well rounded learning experience for students and that the memories and lessons they take from these activities will last a lifetime.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Administration, Faculty, and Staff, I am pleased to say that we remain dedicated to serving the young people of Corning and we are grateful for the chance to do so.  We look forward to working with parents, community members, and our other partners to make 2023-24 a successful year for students!
