Dear Corning Community,

I am deeply honored and excited to step into the role of Superintendent for the Corning Union High School District. As a 1984 graduate of Corning High School, returning to serve my hometown and contribute to the community that shaped my own educational journey is both a privilege and a profound responsibility.

With over 30 years of experience in education, I bring a distinct viewpoint and dedication to this role. My career path has been diverse, beginning as a paraeducator and evolving through various roles including high school classroom teacher for 17 years, associate principal for 9 years, and principal at both the high school and elementary levels for 6 years. My extensive background in these roles has equipped me with a deep understanding of the educational landscape and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable environment for all students.

I am committed to using my experience in educational leadership, to continue guiding this district in our quest for opportunities that ensure every student can reach their full potential. My vision for the Corning Union High School District is rooted in the principles of inclusion and equity. I believe that every student deserves a supportive and nurturing environment that respects and celebrates their unique needs.

Together, we will work to enhance educational experiences and opportunities, ensuring that our schools are places where every student feels valued and empowered. I look forward to collaborating with students, parents, teachers, and the community to build on the district's strengths and drive forward our shared goals. Thank you for the warm welcome. I am eager to embark on this journey with all of you.

Sincerely,
Miguel Barriga
Superintendent, Corning Union High School District
